ORSERVATIONS ON THE ENZYME SYSTEM INVOLVED IN THE OXIDATION OF GLUCOSE TO GLUCONIC ACID BY A. NIGER

Authors/Creators

Description

Aerobic and anaerobic oxidation of enclose by enzyme preparation of A. \(niger\) presence of hydrogen acceptor has been investigated. Specificity of the enzyme and the effect of inhibitors on the reaction have also been studied.

Behaviour of the living mould has been studied both under aerobic and anaerobic conditions and in presence of hydrogen acceptors and KCN as inhibitor.

The two component theory of oxidation of glucose in which the enzyme system is supposed to consist of dehydrogenase and a specific glucose oxidase is confirmed and the oxidase is considered to be distinct from cytoobrome oxidase.
