In course of autoxidation of fully acids like oleic and linoleic and their methyl esters, oxygen achieves its effect by initiating its Mina( additively at the double bond of the unsaturated fatty acid molecules with the formation of cyclic peroxides. Oxidation is next found to proceed with the formation of hydroperoxides at a stage when initial cycloperoxidation of the unsaturated fatty acid molecules generates adequate energy to muse the disruption of an α-methylenie hydrogen atom adjacent to the double bond.
