Fast Surface Warming of Global Cities

Description

Using satellite land surface temperatures (2002 to 2021), this study investigates the surface warming trends over urban core, rural background and transitional land based on the time series decomposition algorithm. The individual contributions from background climate change, urbanization, and landscape greening to overall urban surface warming trends are then quantified using the statistical attribution approach.
