PREPARATION OF SOME THIAZOLE DYES OF DOEBNER VIOLET TYPE

Authors/Creators

Description

4-Aryl-2-aminothiazoles, prepared from ketones and thioureas, were condensed with benzaldehyde in presence of HCI to yield di-(4-aryl-2-aminothiazyl-5-)-phenylmethanes. These were oxidised by lead, dioxide in acid solution to the correvonding carbinols and then by oxalic acid and ammonium oxalate to the corresponding dyes of Doebner violet type. As dyes they are inferior to Malachite green.
