Wittgenstein na ótica de Habermas e Gianotti

Description

WITTGENSTEIN FROM HABERMAS’ AND GIANOTTI'S INTERPRETATION

Abstract: We defend Wittgenstein from Habermas” accusation that language games are strictly local, and from Giannotti's attempts to demonstrate that Wittgenstein is not a relativist philosopher. We think that the multiplicity of language games is a benefit and not an obstacle for communication. In this way, Wittgenstein is a legitimate representative of the pragmatist turn. As for Giannotti”s interpretation, that, in order to avoid relativism we must look for a transcendental form behind the diversity of language games, so that communication is possible, we think that Wittgenstein do not aim for any form of transcendentalism. The reason is that the incommensurability of the language games and its various logics, do not require a quest for transcendental forms; besides, in our life forms, there is nothing that should be commun to them all. The condition for understanding is not a “reflexive kind of proposition” as Giannotti requires.
