REMNANTS OF COLLECTION, PROMOTIONS IN TIME AND BALANCES THROUGH HISTORY
Abstract: Any collection of property has established spaces and times. Thus, it is imperative to keep them clearly in mind, to assemble a philosophical reflection around this identity or its horizon. The main reason for certain repetitions required by the need to begin by reviewing fundamental aspects of the configuring structure. Connected by toponymy to the farm where it began, the village of Casa Branca is part of the horizon where the preceding citation records a historical process, with its roots in the 19th century, to which the 20% century associated factors of progress (the railroads where an essential communications network, the train was for many decades the great popular means of transportation over a long distance, the lands around the stations were essential sites of settlements), and this status was later partly removed. One gets there, at the end of a quick sidetrack located on the road between Santiago do Escoural and Alcaçovas. Kept within the interior of the structural spectrum which could only have been moved by the train, mobilized by the railroad community that depended on it, the horizontal ensemble of houses spreads out like a hand, even today, in a markedly rural area. .Small, the land has known better days. But it resists, with highs and lows, always marked by the destiny that was allowed to it, by outside interests and decisions imposed by the national railroad network. Embellished by pairs of old candelabra placed in the central area of each of the platforms, the station and its well-preserved clock elegantly perform the duty of marking the obligatory intervals in time. This enlarges the place after Vendas Novas and before Alcaçovas or Évora, to the increased measure of the surrounding spaces. Mainly a place of passage, with few arrivals or departures, for many years it was a central space for those who stayed, like a symbolic place for earning a living, deserving the respect of peoples. This prerogative continues to take strength to remain mighty, dominating everything and everyone, while it demands the right to be announced by the social rhythm, proposed from the frontal square.
