Description: This review corresponds to the IPBES Values Assessment Chapter 5. The review explained in this report explores which values underpin different future scenarios, visions and pathways, and what the futures are in terms of impacts on nature, nature’s contributions to people and good quality of life. In order to achieve this, various data collection activities were carried out to gather different types of data. Steps followed are described in turn. A parallel analysis tracked whether there are different types of values of nature (e.g., instrumental, relational) and their dynamics (e.g., singular / plural, level of diversity, dominance of one / balance), associated with particular types of futures (e.g., undesirable / desirable, unsustainable / sustainable, dystopian / utopian). This review aims to contribute useful information for answering  the mandate for the Chapter 5 that refers to the types of conceptualizations of the value of nature and its benefits to people that have not been explicitly addressed or have not been explicitly incorporated into decision-making.
