Structure of Chloroxylon Swietenia Gum. Part I. Nature of Sugars Present and the Structure of Aldobiouronic Acid
Authors/Creators
Description
\(Chloroxylon\) \(awictienia\) gum on hydrolysis yields a mixture of D-galactose, L-arabinose, D-galacturonio acid, 4-O-rnethyl-D-glueuronic acid, and three other minor sugars. Graded hydrolysis of the gum provides an ahloobionronic acid, which has been shown to be 6-O-(\(\alpha\)-D-galactopyranosyluronic acid)-D-galactose from methylation studies.
