Heterocyclic Compounds: XI. Studies in Oxazole Derivatives

A number of new azlactones have been synthesised by the application of the Erlenmeyer reaction on aromatic aldehydes. Several reactions of the azlactones leading to the preparation of phenylacetic acids, benzoylaminocinnamic acids, isoquinoline, imidazole and oxidiazine derivatives have been described.
