Synthesis of Potential Antiradiation Agents. Part III. Some N-Alkyl-2 thiono-4-oxo-and 2, 4-Dithiono-1, 3-thiazane Derivatives

Description

Some N-substituted 2-thiono-4-oxo-1,3-thiazane derivatives and the corresponding 2,4-dithiono- 1,3-thiazanes have been synthesised as potential antiradiation agents. N-substituted dithiocarbamic acids on treatment with substituted acrylic acids followed by cyclisation gave N-alkylated 2-thiono-4-oxo-1,3-thiazane derivatives. These 2-thiono-4-oxo-1,3-thiazanes on refluxing with phosphorus pentasulphide in xylene resulted in the corresponding 2,4-dithiono-1,3-thiazanes. Synthesis of some of the products by alternate routes has been carried out and spectral evidence in support of their structures has been discussed.
