АВТОРКА РОМАНУ «МІДЛМАРЧ» ДЖОРДЖ ЕЛІОТ І «ОБРАЗ АВТОРА» ЯК ХУДОЖНЯ ІНСТАНЦІЯ ТВОРУ (ГЕНДЕРНИЙ АСПЕКТ)

It is proposed as a promising study of the correlation between the textual instance “author’s image” and the real authorship of the novel “Middlemarch” in the gender plane. It is argued that the methodology of studying the author's image as an artistic category, directly organizing the textual space, proposed in the works of Anatoly Gulak, on the one hand, and modern methods of studying the addressing of artistic discourse, on the other hand, are applicable for this purpose. The author as the instance of the work introduces the reader into the depicted artistic world, and when this happens, s/he (the author) directly manifests her/himself in it as well. In order to investigate whether the author’s image in the novel “Middlemarch” manifests itself as a male or female speech instance, the philologist must analyze this image, reproduce or model its structure, characterize grammatical interactions and manifestations at different levels of text organization. Interpretation in this case is focused on taking into account the linguistic aspect of the work and the social and historical-literary aspects of the novel’s existence in the artistic discourse of the 19th century and currently.
