Synthesis of Furano Compounds (XXXVI) Cyclodehydration of ω-Aryloxyacetophenones

Description
A number of 2-arylcoumarones have been synthesised by cyclodehydration of the corresponding ω-aryloxyacetophenones in presence of polyphosphoric acid at 135-40°. The migration of the aryl nucleus from position 3 to 2 during the cyclodehydration has been studied and,unambiguous syntheses of the above coumarones are reported.
