Description

The paper characterizes the features of the realization of the theme of a woman in the lyrics of one of the most prominent representatives of the poetry of the “Sixtiers” – Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Literary critics have long paid attention to the bold innovation of the Sixtiers. This fully applies to the work of Yevgeny Yevtushenko. A particular interest in this regard is posed by the originality of the poet's interpretation of the theme of a woman. An increased attention to the intimate side of life, to female physicality can already be found in the early lyrics of Yevtushenko. The image of a woman in the poet's heritage is multivariate and occupies one of the central places in it, acting among the dominant ones. Having decided back in the early sixties to write poems on behalf of a lyrical heroine, the poet gradually “tried on” female roles, approached the understanding of a woman “from the inside”, from the position of the woman herself (“I was a pregnant typist...”), and in the late period of his creative activity his works bring the theme of a woman to a fundamentally new level. The author's position in the poem “Men do not give themselves to women...” and the originality of the forms of its expression, perhaps, have no analogues in Russian poetic culture.
