Synthesis of Some Naphtho α-and γ-Pyrones from 2, 7-Dihydroxy Naphthalene

Several naphtho α- and \(\gamma\)-pyrone derivatives have been synthesised from 2, 7­-dihydroxy naphthalene and its 1-formyl and 1,6-diacetyl derivatives through the applica­tion of Perkin, Pechmann, Knoevenagel and Kostaneeki-Robinson acylation reactions and the structures of the products obtained have been established by chemical and spectral methods.
