Using Buck-Boost Chopper-Batteries for Voltage Regulation of Wind Turbine- Grid Connected
Description
Some systems of renewable energies (wind or solar) are connected to the electric grid through DC bus-bar. The voltage of DC bus-bar will change with time depending on the generated energy from these systems, which is variable according to the renewable source energy, so, the mentioned systems need storage devices, like batteries.
Therefore, this paper will study the possibility of regulation the bus-bar voltage by using energy storage systems (batteries) and buck-boost DC Chopper. The proposed system consists of a renewable energy source (wind turbine), three-phase rectifier, three-phase inverter, chopper and Batteries (Lead-Acid batteries).
MATLAB/Simulink environment was used to simulate the proposed system, in order to study the response of the proposed system to DC bus-bar voltage variation depending on output power variation of wind turbine.
The simulation results show the system ability to regulate the DC bus-bar voltage and more than to smooth the injected power in the Grid.
