Two New Saponins from the Root of Amaranthus spinosus Linn

Phytochemical investigation on the root of \(Amaranthus\) \(spinosus\) Linn. revealed the presence of two new saponins (I and II). Structure of saponins I and II were assigned to be as β-D-glucopyranosyl (1→2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl (1→2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl (1→3)- α-Spinasterol and β-D-glucopyranosyl (1→4)-β-D-glucopyranosyl ( 1→3)-α-spinasterol respectively.
