5G-ROUTES: D5.7 Data Management Plan
Description
This deliverable presents the first version of the 5G-ROUTES Data Management Plan (DMP) and responds to Task T5.3 – Innovation, data management and IPR activities (WP5). This document includes information covering all the areas below:
• The guiding principles for data management in the project
• The legal framework constituted by the General Data Protection Directive (GDPR)
• Data Summary: Overview of what data will be gathered and processed in the project (including, where applicable, personal data)
• How data will be stored and processed according to the H2020 Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) Data Management principles, making data: findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
• Resource allocation: The costs of making data FAIR in this project.
• Data Security: How we intend to keep the data secure and how that can be shared with the public.
• Appointment of Data Protection Officer (DPO) per partner
These procedures have formalized and applied the FAIR data management framework, as per the EC guidelines, with the goal of making data openly accessible and interoperable and addressing data re-use considerations. According to the EU Guidelines for Data Management Plans (DMPs), the DMP governs all data generated and collected during the project, the standards to be used, how research data will be preserved and what parts of the datasets will be shared for verification or re-use. The 5G-ROUTE DMP sets out the grounds for identifying, curing, publishing, and sharing reusable data assets for research. The DMP provides the obligation to protect individuals’ personal data originating from data collection and /or analysis of project’s key parameters, in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations. This is done by framing mechanisms in collaboration with participating partners and ensuring that security measures and policies are in place to safeguard the programme from personal data risks of breach. In addition, 5G-ROUTES takes an active role on the Open Research Data Pilot (ORD Pilot) [1], a H2020 EU Pilot Program aimed at enhancing access and reuse of research data produced by Horizon 2020 projects, developing research methodologies to ensure that the types of data created or collected by the project are suitable for open access after project closure. 5G-ROUTES will use the open research data repository Zenodo and Open Research Europe to comply with the Horizon 2020 Open Access Mandate. This mandate applies to the underlying research data of publications, but beneficiaries can also voluntarily make other datasets open. In 5G-ROUTES, all deliverables, publications, and the anonymous parts of the underlying datasets will be uploaded to the European Commission Funded Research (OpenAIRE) Community in Zenodo and Open Research Europe. Uploads will be done upon approval of the deliverables by the European Commission, upon publication or acceptance of scientific publications, or, for underlying datasets, at the end of the project at the latest. The DMP is a living document and will be updated at the end of the project to reflect the actual research data generated during the project and include updated instructions for how to access open data. Day-to-day data management and monitoring will be done using an excel file in Teamwork (project’s file repository) that will be continuously updated to reflect actual data generation.
