Description
The instrumentalists are a social group that is affected by multiple diseases and conditions at a physical, psychological and emotional level due to the type of activity they develop, being subjected to great pressure, seeking perfection and performing repetitive work. Many of these ailments are recognized and considered common, but focal dystonia is still uncharted territory, affecting more and more performers and being branded a taboo subject in this context. Depending on the instrument, it affects some parts of the body or others, the brass musicians being afflicted especially at the embouchure level. This research aims to publicize the disease at a medical, historical and social level to banish myths, acquire knowledge about it and investigate possible paths of action from different perspectives.
