Synthesis of Oxygenated Deoxybenzoins and lsoflavones

Eight new deoxybenzoins have been prepared by alkali cleavage of 3-aryl-4-hydroxycoumarins and subsequently converted with ethyl formate to corresponding isoflavones. The structures of deoxybenzoins and isoflavones were established by spectral data and their useful physiological properties discussed.
