The leaves and stems of Limonia acidissima afforded coumarins (luvangetin, xanthotoxin and marmesin), triterpenoids (lupeol and limonin) and steroids (sitosterol O-\(\beta\)-D glucoside). These compounds have been characterised by their spectral (uv, ir. 1H- and 12C-nmr, mass) characteristics. Detailed proton and carbon 13 spectral analyses of limonin have been made using two-dimensional nmr spectroscopy.
