Synthesis, Properties and Characterisation of Diphenylantimony( III) O, O":.Alkylene (and Diphenyl) Dithiophosphates

Description

Chemical Laboratories, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur-302 004

Diphenylantimony(III) chloride reacts with sodium/ammonium salts of O,O'-alkylene
and diphenyldithiophosphoric acids in equimolar amounts in refluxing benzene to yield

Ph2SbS2POGO (where,G=-CMe2CM2-, -CH2CMe2CH2-, -CH2CEt2CH2 -. aod - CMe.CH ,CHMe-) and Ph2SbS2P(OPh)2. The complexes are viscous liquids or semi-solids, soluble in common organic solvents and monomeric in nature. These have been characterised on the basis of elemental analyses, molecular weight determinations, ir and nmr (1H. 1 2C and 2 1P) spectral data which reveal bidentate behaviour of
dithiophosphate moieties.
