Description
Emerging data propose innate and adaptive immune cells as possible triggers of ictogenesis. Activated immune cells induce blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability changes responsible for the extravasation into the brain parenchyma of serum proteins and other inflammatory mediators that promote neuroinflammation and seizures. The identification of cellular and soluble biomarkers that describe these processes is mandatory to better understand dysimmune encephalopathies with seizures.
