The observations that carbon disulphide transforms primary and secondary amines in acetonitrile medium quantitatively into dithiocarbamates and following their reaction with copper(II) in the same medium, the latter can be successfully determined using pulse-polarography, have been made the basis of a simple, accurate and reliable method for the determination not only of primary and secondary amines but organic isocyanates as well.
