Reconstructing Arctic Sea Ice over the Common Era Using Data Assimilation

  • 1. Department of Atmospheric Sciences, University of Washington

Description

The following data contain reconstructions of Arctic sea ice and temperature during the Common Era (0-1999 CE). These reconstructions were produced using data assimilation of climate model output and temperature-sensistive proxy records. Prior ensembles were drawn from climate model output from both the Community Climate System Model version 4 (CCSM4, Last Millennium simulation Landrum et al., 2013) and Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-ESM-P, Last Millennium simulation Jungclaus et al. (2010)). Temperature-sensitive proxy records were taken from Pages2kv2 database (Emile-Geay et al. 2017). Included are separate files which include: perfect model pseudo proxy experiment reconstructions, imperfect model pseudo proxy experiment reconstructions, fixed proxy reconstructions from 1200-1970 CE, two full reconstructions using two model priors from 0-1999 CE, and a list years of large volcanic eruptions used for composite analysis. These reconstructions correspond with work published in Brennan et al. (2021).
