Description
The rise of life-threatening fungal infections and the lack of new approved antifungal drugs calls to the necessity to find new molecules capable of covering the demand for this kind of medications. The Plantae kingdom, with a great variety of natural products, can be a reliable source for this kind of compounds. A bibliometric analysis of the Scopus database showed that the scientific community is interested in this kind of research. The number of publications on the field has been incremented year by year, and the journals covering this issue are quite diversified. The possibility to see some plant-derived antifungal drugs, approved by international regulatory agencies, can be more closed than we though.
