A Study Of Teachers' Code Of Conduct At Secondary School Level In Perspective Of Teaching Of Islamic Studies And Basic Islamic Information

Teachers’ code of conduct prescribed by the government of Punjab Pakistan along with other contents consists of teachers responsibilities regarding teaching of Islamic studies and basic Islamic information. This code abides educational management and monitoring authorities about the implementation of this code. The present study explores secondary school teachers’ role in teaching of Islamic studies and basic Islamic information. The survey method using four questionnaires were used as tools of data collection. One hundred secondary school heads and one hundred secondary school teachers whereas one thousand students of the same schools from four districts of the Punjab Pakistan was sample of the study that was chosen through multistage sampling. One-way ANOVA test along with LSD test was used to analyse the collected data. The results revealed that the majority of teachers had good understanding about the teaching of Islamic studies and basic Islamic information but they did not act upon it as narrated in teachers’ code of conduct. In the light of the findings of the study it is recommended that educational administration and monitoring authorities should use this aspect while recruiting, training and observing their teachers during teaching of Islamic studies and basic Islamic information.
