The reactions of titanium(IV) chloride with salicylidcne-2-aminopyridine (sapll) and alkyl xanthate (KS2COR) In the 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 molar ratio(s) yield complexes of the type [(μ-Cl)2 TI2(CI)4(sup) 2] (1), ƞ5-C5115)"' Ti2(μ.-CI2(TJ2- S2COR)2] (2) (where R = C6n13) and ((CI)2Ti(sap)2) (3) respectively. The complex 2 has been further treated with sodium salts of Schiff base (derived from isatin and aniline) and tetraisopropoxyaluminate in equimolar ratio to produce mixed ligand complexes of the type [{ƞ5-c5H5)2 Ti(ƞ2-S2COR)(sb)) (4) and [{ƞ5-C5115)2 Ti(ƞ2-S2COR)(μ-Opri)2{AI(Opri}J (5) respectively. All these complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis (Ti, Cl, C, II, N and S) und SJICC· troscopic data [UV-visible, IR, NMR (1H and 13C, FAB-MS] and PXRD as well as thermogravimetric analysis.
