Description

The strategic direction of Ukraine's foreign policy is integration into the European Union, which provides for approximation to the political, legal, economic and socio-cultural standards of the EU. The reform process will improve the living standards of the population by achieving social justice.

The article deals with the specifics of the development of the social sphere of Ukraine in the context of European integration processes. The comparative characteristics of individual socio-economic indicators of Ukraine and EU member states are presented. The basic models of welfare states are investigated, and their differences are determined, as well as peculiarities of financing in modern conditions. Characteristics of the domestic model of social policy are characterized, and the main directions of its further development are defined.

Thus, today the social sphere of Ukraine has a number of unresolved problems caused by the lack of clear directions of social policy and economic and political stability. As a result, there is unemployment, deep social stratification, deteriorating demographic situation and living conditions of the population as a whole. The course of European integration is very important for Ukraine. To realize this aspiration, our country must meet the conditions of political, economic, legal, geographical and formal nature. Unfortunately, Ukraine, today, corresponds only geographically. In our opinion, the priority of state policy in the social sphere should be to guarantee social values, create a functioning market economy that is able to compete in the international arena and ensure political stability. Only under such conditions can prosperity for the population and accession to the EU be achieved.

Today, it is widely believed that joining the European Union will ensure a high standard of living. However, EU membership is not a cause of positive change but a consequence. It is necessary to realize that this is a rather long process because it is impossible to reach the level of developed countries in a short time. However, the main thing is to aim and act. Therefore, it is advisable to create your own model of social protection, taking into account the historical and national characteristics of Ukraine while drawing on the experience of European countries.
