The experience of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova in the valorization of the national cultural heritage by digital content

The article presents in general lines, but also with the necessary examples, the digitization activity of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova (NLRM) by involvement in large national and international projects. Attention is drawn to the most important national and international strategies and programs. The main institutions responsible for digital content are also present, highlighting the role in capitalizing and conserving the national cultural heritage. At the same time, the role of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova (NLRM) is emphasized by the attributions conferred by the legal framework, by structure and organization as a responsible institution that can coordinate and consolidate both the National Program “Memory of Moldova” and the National Library System the digitization activity and establishment of the National Digital Library.

The article highlights the main european structures and partnership relations that unites them with the NLRM, at the same time some european projects are mentioned which highlight the national cultural heritage, owned by the NLRM, therefore, emphasizes the role and importance of the Europeana platform - digital platform of European Union dedicated to digital cultural heritage.The paper presents an important strategic performance that will take place in the next period, 2022 - 2025, when it will be possible to develop and expand the National Digital Library “Moldavica” as a platform for aggregation and collection of digital content within institutions with cultural memory thanks to a new japanese project to be be implemented in the period 2022-2025 with the support of the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation. In this sense, the Project for the creation and endowment of a National Digitization Center and for the improvement of digitization equipment within the National Library was accepted.
