Dataset: The role of methanotrophy in the microbial carbon metabolism of temperate lakes

This dataset contains the data generated and analyzed in the manuscript "The role of methanotrophy in the microbial carbon metabolism of temperate lakes" by Reis, Thottathil, and Prairie. The dataset includes: (1) incubation data for the determination of aerobic bacterial methane oxidation (methanotrophy) and heterotrophic bacterial carbon consumption (heterotrophy) rates in lake water; (2) microscopy counts and total biomass of each bacterial group (methane-oxidizing bacteria and heterotrophs) during incubations; and (3) water column depth profiles of temperature, dissolved oxygen, and methane concentrations across the ice-free season. The data was collected in six temperate lakes located in the Laurentian region of Quebec, Canada, in 2015 and 2016.
