PUNCH4NFDI Consortium Proposal

The PUNCH4NFDI Consortium

The PUNCH4NFDI consortium bundles numerous efforts in data management of the communities of particle physics, astroparticle physics, hadron & nuclear physics, and astronomy. These communities have decade-long leadership experience in topics as diverse as "big data", "open data", distributed computing, use of heterogeneous resources, serving user groups of literally thousands of scientists with data scratching the Exabyte regime.

Organised in 7 task areas, the consortium ultimately aims at establishing FAIR digital research products for its communities and beyond, spending their entire lifecycle inside a "science data platform" that offers all storage and compute opportunities and all data transformation possibilities required for making the data fully productive in a sustainable way.

In its efforts, the consortium reaches out to the entire NFDI and beyond and is fully integrated into European and international endeavours, always looking for synergies with other initiatives and other fields of science. Training and education plans round off the consortium's ambitious programme.

This is the version documenting the work plan at the proposal stage. The reduction in funding led to a re-shaping of the work programme that is documented elsewhere.
