Extended Reality – Code and Materiality in Art and Culture: Catalog

Description

How can innovative extended reality technologies be used in art, culture, and science? What added value do they actually provide? And what is the significance of materiality in this creative context? In view of the rapid digitization of society, pressing questions like these have for several years been occupying a Berlin-based independent network of art and culture professionals, international cultural institutions, and interdisciplinary researchers from fields such as computer science, design, art, media studies, and anthropology.

This context provided the springboard for the interactive exhibition »Extended Reality – Code and Materiality in Art and Culture« (03.09.–05.10.2021), a cooperation between the interdisciplinary INKA research group at the HTW – University for Applied Sciences Berlin, and the Humboldt- Universität zu Berlin’s Cluster of Excellence »Matters of Activity. Image Space Material« and Media Theater.

This publication is the accompanying catalog to the exhibition.
