UNA NUOVA SPECIE SICILIANA DEL GENERE BRYAXIS KUGELANN, 1794 (Coleoptera Staphylinidae Pselaphinae)

A new Sicilian species of the genus Bryaxis Kugelann, 1794. The authors describe Bryaxis degio
vannii
n. sp., on the basis of a single microphthalmous male specimen collected near Isnello (on the
Madonie mountains, North Sicily). The new species shows its greatest affinity with the three Sicilian
taxa belonging to the group of B. difficilis (Reitter, 1884), namely B. siculus (Fiori, 1913), B. nebro
densis
Besuchet, 1980 and B. marinae Sabella, 1989, from all of which differs easily for some exter
nal
characters and above all for the peculiar structure of aedeagus
