Hipparidium interruptum (Fabricius, 1775)

Geographic distribution: Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Mali, Benin, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, People`s Republic of Congo and Angola.

Distribution in Guinea –Bissau: 20, 28, 30, 36, 37A, 44, 45.

Specimens sampled: Mampatá (Saltinho), 30.VI.2006, 13 ɗ, 10 Ψ, “DO”, (AS); Guilege-Dolo, 11.VII.2006, 2 ɗ, 3 Ψ, “DO”, (AS); Coli (Quebo), 12.VII.2006, 4 ɗ, 5 Ψ, “DO”, (AS); Cufada, 17.VII.2006, 1 Ψ, “DO”, (AS).

Remarks: A species known for the western territories of Africa. It occurs in the gallery forests of the rivers, appearing in some localities of Guinea-Bissau in great numbers (e.g. Saltinho, Coli). Adults are very cryptic with the ground and some of them fly to the surrounding vegetation when disturbed.
