Search for clusters and extended stellar structures using the clustering-of-pairs method

We describe using DBSCAN and HDBSCAN clustering algorithms applied to a list of preliminary selected pairs of stars, with parameters expected to be found within stellar streams and comoving groups. To test our approach, we construct a model population of background stars, and use pair-constructing and clustering algorithm on it. Transitioning from stars to pairs highlights the comoving and dense structures, which makes them much more apparent targets for clustering algorithm. Modelling shows that these apparent overdensities in pairs do not appear in the uniform background model.
