Numbers above the diagonal represent Pearson correlation coefficients, and asterisks denote statistical significance ( *, P < 0.1; **, P < 0.05; ***, P < 0.001). (B) Principle components analysis of the logit transformed taxonomic relative frequency data. Colors mark geographic location, plotted in (C); numbers refer to site identifiers in Supplement 1. Arrow angle with the axis indicate the contribution of each taxon’s frequency to the principle components, and transparency their overall importance. Statistics used the ‘factoextra’ package in R (4.02)(R Core Team, 2020).
