Description

This book describes typical issues that are taught and covered in first year classes of fluid mechanics with various examples application with many visual illustrations. The focus of book is on effective learning and current state of the art.    The presentation is build from ground up to facilitate familiarity with many concepts used in real life. The concepts are describe in easy and plain terms avoiding the jargon as much as possible. The real word examples are provided engaging the readers with the material.     There several unique parts of the book.     This is the only book contain many innovative ideas for example describes Nusselt methods (Dimensional analysis). It contain extensive description of integral methods, Reynolds Transport Theorem, Differential governing Equations.     Many consider this book chapter on fluid statics as the best and most extensive.

Many consider this book chapter on fluid statics as the best and most extensive possible. Or consider the chapter on add properties the best and simplest explanation on the topic.

The chapters on ideal flow and open channel flow chapters are probably with the deepest explanations.
The book contains several questions inspired by GATE  (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering ) and solutions

Bar--Meir ideas are spreading around as it can be observed by several things that happened.  On one hand, Dr. Jiarong Hong from the University of Minnesota alleged that the solution for the deep ocean is useless or cumbersome.  On other hand, Dr. Sandip Ghosal from Northwestern University plagiarized Bar-Meir's work on deep ocean pressure calculations and he spent almost a week teaching this topic and even copy the Bar-Meir's nomenclature.  In fact he took one third of the mid--quarter exam his students on this topic.  It is also interesting to point out that Dr. Hong also suggested to burn the Eckert (Schmidt) dimensional analysis method which Eckert introduced to heat and mass transfer education.  The adherence that was displayed by Dr. Ghosal to Bar--Meir's work was probably because he did not think that he would be caught.  On the other hand, Kostas J. Spyrou when he gave the keynote lecture he basically copied many concepts that were developed by Bar--Meir such as the stability dome as his ideas.  These concepts never appeared in the literature before.  It is interesting to point out that Dr. Spyrou has been observed before downloading Bar--Meir's book.  Dr.~Spyrou's behavior is not unique to him only.  Dr. Kenneth Brezinsky went out of his way to declare that Bar-Meir's calculations of compressible gas potential to be useless and baseless.  However, Brian J. Cantwell from Stanford University recently decided to copy Bar--Meir's idea and dedicate whole section (2.9) to it in his book and probably also in his classes.  Except that D. Cantwell downgrade the idea (he removed the dimensionless presentation), maybe because he did not fully understand it.  There are more cases of this copy/plagiarizing but normally they try to make the appearance that there is nothing to see here.

Notes

This book contain basic material and no so basic material for fluid mechanics (undergraduate and graduate students and professorial. In many respect it contain material that is innovative and first published in this book.
