Description
The Municipality of Bečej is located in the eastern part of the Bačka region, one of the lowest part of the Vojvodina province in Serbia. The municipality is mostly located on the loess terrace and alluvial plain, where the characteristics of the water regime of the phreatic aquifer are specific. This researches studies the effects of the natural factors, but also anthropogenic influences that have a high impact on the characteristics of the water regime of the shallowest groundwater horizont. In the study area only 11 monitoring wells are active, which are mostly located in the alluvial plain and loess terrace. Using available data from active and also from nonactive wells, we described the main characteristics of water regime of the phreatic aquifer in the study area. We found that climate characteristics have a significant impact on the water regime of the phreatic aquifer in the higher part of the study area, while hydrologic and anthropogenic factors are more dominant in the lower part of the municipality.
