Distribution. USA, Mexico, West Indies, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad, Guyana, French Guiana, and Brazil (Endrödi 1969; López-Garc´ıa et al. 2016). In Brazil, it is known from Rio Grande do Norte, Piau´ı (Endrödi 1969), Pernambuco (Albuquerque et al. 2016), and Bah´ıa (da Silva and Grossi 2017). Here it is reported as NEW STATE RECORDS for Alagoas, Amapá, Ceará, Espiritu Santo, Maranhao, Paraiba, and Sergipe.

Comments. The records found for Brazil extend the distribution of this species along the Atlantic Coast of South America. Based on specimens examined, we conclude that in South America the species is not so abundant nor a potential pest as it is in the West Indies and south Florida, where it has been found affecting turf (Buss 2006).
