Morphosyntactic local variation in Chaga: Group-internal variation and atypical features in Eastern Bantu
Description
This presentation aims to showcase the structural microvariation of typologically uncommon features observed in the Chaga group of languages (E60 in the Guthrie's code) spoken on the slope area of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The features discussed include i) geographical distribution of TAM markers and their chain shift relations, ii) post nasal trilling of voiced stops, iii) clause-final negation particles and the process of their historical development.
