Numerical Modeling for Evaluation of LNAPLs Remediation Efficiency by Configuration of Wells

  • 1. Yonsei University

Description

The multi-phase and multi-component numerical simulator, TOUGH2-TMVOC, was implemented to assess the removal efficiencies of light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL). The LNAPLs consist of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene-p (BTEX). For the full-physics numerical LNAPLs transport modeling, Scenarios of the LNAPL-spilling (Stage 2), natural distribution (Stage 3), and remediation stages (Stage 4) were designed. In the LNAPLs remediation stage, a multi-phase extraction (MPE) and a steam injection technique were employed. The removal efficiencies of LNAPLs were computed by systematically varying 6 factors that determine the configuration of the remediation wells.

Data provided here contain input information to represent from Stage 1 to Stage 4 by using TOUGH2-TMVOC.
