Description

Barathrodemus manatinus Goode & Bean 1883

Material examined. 7 specimens, 93–151 mm SL: MOVI 38806-38807 (2, 114– 121 mm), E-0547; MOVI 38812-38813 (2, 132– 151 mm), AG1-17; MOVI 38818 (1, 130 mm), AG2-1; MOVI 38830 (1, 95– 105 mm), AG2-1; MOVI 38835 (1, 93 mm), AG1-13.

Diagnosis. Dorsal fin-rays 106–107 and anal fin-rays 85–87.

Distribution. Tropical western North Atlantic (Nielsen et al. 1999), and off eastern Brazil.

Remarks. First record in Brazilian waters. Colleted off Rio de Janeiro, from 1060 to 1318 m depth.
