Stan aktualny i perspektywy ochrony cennych przyrodniczo obszarów w sąsiedztwie dawnej "Huty Katowice"

The current condition and perspectives of natural valuable areas protection in the neighbourhood of katowice stellworks. The present paper comprises list and characteristic of areas precious from environmental viewpoint located in the vicinity of former Katowice Steelworks based in published data. The objective of analyses was to estimate a current state of environmental valuable areas under various forms of protection and to indicate these areas, for protection purposes, which have not such a status. The study area is situated within the KAtowice Upland in Dąbrowa Górnicza and Sosnowiec towns. Based on detailed analysis of literature data it is concluded that: 1. Despite prolonged industrial environmental nuisance the areas studied are characterized by considerable species richness. 2. Obtained data confirm the aims of existence of the present protected areas. 3. The analyses results reveal insufficient conservation of semi-natural phytocoenoses, mainly meadow communities in the study area. 4. The conservation of wetland ecosystems is not effective and requires further ecological studies aimed at final decisions about ways of their protection.
