GLOBALISATION AND THE CHALLENGES OF SUSTAINABLE READING CULTURE: THE RELEVANCE OF EFFECTIVE PLAYWRITING

Abstract
The art of writing and reading are facing the most pronounced challenges in human history, occasioned by the availability of several options through the current high information technology-globalization. Reading, either for formal or leisure purposes, is in stiff competition with entertainment and information alternatives available on the Internet. This paper argues that playwriting as an act, when properly handled, can create and sustain the reading culture of its audience, the said challenges notwithstanding.
