Description
Thymus plant belongs to Lamiaceae family; it’s commonly known as thyme. According to worldwide, it’s worldwide cultivated plant. The main chemical component is Thymol. Thymol has very strong medicinal properties. The major chemical components are 1,8-cineole, camphor, borneol, β-pinene, Camphene, α-pinene. Thymus essential oil has strong bioactivities like anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, antipyretic, antioxidant, and ant mycotoxigenic activities. A review provides an overview of the current literature on thymus essential oils mainly anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, and ant mycotoxigenic activity.
