La financiación de la ciencia es uno de los motores dinamizadores de la investigación. En Colombia ha crecido significativamente el número de investigadores, pero no se ha incrementado de forma proporcional la inversión en ciencia, tecnología e innovación. Para apoyar el desarrollo de sus programas y su carrera de investigación, tanto los investigadores como las oficinas de investigación deben desarrollar estrategias para optimizar la búsqueda de las oportunidades de financiación internacional y reducir el tiempo de rastreo de financiación disponible, viable y competitiva. Aquí presentamos ocho estrategias de búsqueda de fuentes de financiación internacional que incluyen desde el uso de bases de datos especializadas, hasta redes sociales. Sugerimos debe fomentarse la interacción efectiva entre las oficinas de investigación y los investigadores, así como incorporar los hábitos de búsqueda de financiación en los investigadores, en los estudiantes de postgrado latinoamericanos y en las cátedras de investigación para aprovechar al máximo las oportunidades internacionales.
