Description

Review that attempts to place existing scientific priorities in the context of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. However, there is a lack of clarity concerning the relationship that links the Decade Outcomes. Since the connectivity of the Outcomes is not explicitly represented, reviewing the scientific priorities and classifying them according to the Decade Outcomes is a complex matter. Consequently, it could be wise to highlight the interdependency of these Outcomes to emphasize how to get from science to tangible strategies aimed at preserving and restoring ecosystems and supporting the people who depend on them. In this way, the UN Decade of Ocean Science will create synergies with the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration to protect oceans and their resources.
