Nassarius reticulatus (Linnaeus, 1758) y Nassarius nitidus (Jeffreys, 1867) (Gastropoda, Nassariidae), dos especies válidas de los mares de Europa

  • 1. Universidad Autónoma de Madrid

Description

A comparative study of two sympatric morphs of the genus Nassarius from the San Simón Bay, Ría de Vigo, is carried out; several characters of the shell, protoconch, radula and spawn and some aspects of the behaviour are compared. It is concluded that they are two different species corresponding with Nassarius reticulatus (Linnaeus, 1758) and Nassarius nitidus (Jeffreys, 1867). The distribution of both species in the European and African coasts is commented; within N. nitidus three morphs, which show no significant differences, can be distinguished.
