Description

This release is the first release of the official SA-BSN's as a SEAMS'21 artifact.

This artifact is an exemplar of a healthcare application implemented in ROS. The goal of the SA-BSN is to detect emergencies by continuously monitoring the patient's health status. The SA-BSN is equipped to adapt itself in order to maintain the desired QoS levels with minimal human intervention, while accounting for classes of uncertainty. Furthermore, this adaptation can be based in two QoS attributes: (i) reliability, given in terms of success and failures of the components, and cost, given in terms of battery consumption.

The SA-BSN sheds light on control theoretical solutions for SAS by providing an environment where disturbances can be injected in the various components that encode vital signs monitoring sensors and a central hub. This is due to the fact that while trying to meet its requirements, the system is prone to these injected uncertainties. Thus, the controller, which is inside a closed loop, is activated to mitigate the effects of unexpected events in quality attributes.

This exemplar also provides an analysis script which evaluates control-theory metrics based on logs generated during the system's execution. With this analysis, the reasearcher using the SA-BSN can verify the quality of the adaptation by means of predefined non-functional requirements, given in terms of the previously mentioned metrics.

For instructions on the installation, bulld, execution and analysis of results please refer to the official Github repository of the SA-BSN. Also, a short video showing the execution of the exemplar can be found here.
