The event at a glance

Open Research Europe (ORE) is the new open access scientific publishing platform of the European Commission. Ilaria Fava, OpenAIRE Outreach Officer, and Michael Markie, F1000 Publishing Director, will present Open Research Europe to Italy in two webinars (in Italian and in English) on March 11th and Match 12th 2.00-3.00 pm.

About the speakers

Ilaria Fava has been working for years in projects in the field of Open Science. Recently, she collaborated to RDA Europe and the promotion of good practices for research data sharing. In OpenAIRE she is responsible for the communication and dissemination activities, and she interacts with F1000 team under the MoU that was signed to collectively promote and enhance the publishing platform.

Michael Markie is the Publishing Director for F1000 Research. He is an open science, open data and open research advocate leading F1000’s effort to change the way science is communicated. He played a pivotal role in devising the open research publishing model and launching F1000Research in 2013, and now oversees the development of the publishing platform services F1000 provide for leading funders and institutions such the European Commission, Wellcome and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Michael is an active member of the open science community and gives many talks/seminars/workshops on the subject at international conferences and research institutions. Michael previously studied Chemical Biology at the University of Leeds, where he worked on synthesising a range of potential anti-tumour compounds.

The webinar is designed for the research community participating in European Commission Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe funding programme. It is dedicated to researchers at all career levels, research support staff, technicians, technologists willing to know more about the new publishing platform ORE, and how ORE is included and supports the European Commission Open Science strategies and policies.

About ICDI Competence Center:

The ICDI Competence Center (CC-ICDI) is a network of experts, initiatives and infrastructures with competences in the Open Science, FAIR data and EOSC at various levels. Training and support on relevant topics in the national and european context are one of the main activities of the CC-ICDI, that can count on the expertise and competencies available within research institutions, universities and thematic and horizontal research infrastructures.

Open Science Café

The Open Science cafè is a series of events designed to cover major topics and news from the Open Science worls, dedicated to the italian community. It aims at informing and discussing over various aspects of Open Science in an informal way, in front of a coffee cup. Each event lasts for one hour and focus on a specific theme, leaving enough time for discussion with the audience.
